Brinnington railway station serves Brinnington in the eastern part of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. It is a relatively new station, opening on 12 December 1977, by British Rail, on the line originally built by the Sheffield and Midland Railway Companies' Committee in 1875 between New Mills and Manchester London Road (now Piccadilly). ==Service==
It is served by the DMU service operating between Manchester Piccadilly, Marple and New Mills Central with through services to Sheffield via the Hope Valley Line. Monday to Friday daytimes there are two trains per hour to Manchester Piccadilly and two per hour towards New Mills Central.〔(Northern Rail Timetable 22 - Manchester to New Mills and Rose Hill )''Northern Rail''; Retrieved 2013-12-09〕 One train every second hour continues through to Sheffield. On Saturdays, the basic frequency remains the same but eastbound servides run alternately to Sheffield and . During the evenings, the frequency drops to one train per hour each way and on Sundays trains run every two hours each way (most through to Sheffield eastbound).
